I'm Joe and I am a collector. I have an eye for detail, and for cool things at a good price. Most of my items come from charity shops and such venues where they need the $. There are some great shops in Iowa. One of my favorites in Des Moines profits a no kill animal shelter. They take in homeless cats and dogs and work hard to find good homes for them. They have a nice farm and caring volunteers that take great care of the animals.
I have made many sales where my original cost + my time involved has well exceeded any so called profit. The way I see it, if I spend $5 at one of those shops, sell the item for $6, and go spend the $6 back at one of those shops, it is a win for everyone. It allows me to provide a good service to collectors, and funnel dollars towards these venues. It is my way of volunteering my time. It is fun too! I find great items for my collections, and for other collectors as well.
One of my favorite finds was a very old Westinghouse Electric sign. It was so awesome. A real piece of history. I did sell it to someone, I can't really tell you who bought it of course. But you can go see it now at the George Westinghouse Museum. It is amazing to be able to sort out these great items on the web, and get them on to where they absolutely need to be.
Of course I do try to make a little $ for my efforts. My Gr8dayze eCrater store does help me keep the baby bird beaks in my nest fed. It does help me keep mama bird chirping a happy tune. I expect I will never sell one item for one million dollars. How about selling a million items for $1 each instead! Ok then, I better learn how to type and list much faster. Cheers! Joe@Gr8dayze.com
